Kompany pleased with Bayern‘s preparations after Visit Malta Cup victory

Bayern Munich boss Vincent Kompany was all smiles after his side lifted the Visit Malta Cup over Tottenham on Saturday.

Following the 3-2 win, the 38-year-old spoke on how his side has taken a positive step under his leadership heading into the 2024/25 season.

“It was only a test game, but the mentality was right. Of course it’s always good to win, but so much can happen in a game like this when you make so many substitutions,” said the Belgian.

“We’re still in preparation, but the most important thing was that we took another step forward. Now we move on to the next one.”

Kompany was particularly happy for his striker Harry Kane as the Englishman returned to London this time in a Bayern shirt.

“It was a good game for him. I know what it means when you’ve been successful with a team for so long,” he said.

“I know that success is not always just about titles, but sometimes also about what you have done for people.

“It’s nice that he got this game. Now we move on. We have a team with a lot of good players and we are fully motivated.”

Looking ahead, Bayern face WSG Tirol on Tuesday.
