International Collaboration is a Priority

The gaming sector is quickly becoming a global industry involving different regions, making international cooperation more important than ever. As such, this partnership allows the MGA and UKGC to strengthen their regulatory standards, stay ahead of the ever-changing industry, and handle common issues more efficiently.

Other regulatory bodies are also pushing for global regulation harmony. Australia’s Communications and Media Authority reportedly turns to Curacao to get a handle on unlicensed gambling operators that target its citizens without licenses.

Applauded Partnership

Commenting on the formalized partnership, UKGC CEO Andrew Rhodes stated, “We welcome this agreement as a sign of our continued collaboration between the MGA and UKGC. We’ve been working closely for some time now, and following our successful visit this summer, it is only fitting that we formalize our working relationship.”

MGA CEO Charles Mizzi emphasized the importance of the partnership, noting, “Our longstanding informal collaboration with the UKGC has already delivered meaningful outcomes, and the formalization of this cooperation is definitely a step in the right direction.”

Bolstering Regulatory Standards

With this agreement, the UKGC and MGA hope to share resources and insights to deal with major regulatory issues and uphold shared values like anti-money laundering and gambling fairness. The joint effort will curb the black-market sector and help both parties maintain high industry standards.

Andrew Rhodes emphasized that: “We are keen to continue strengthening our efforts to raise standards across the industry, tackling common challenges such as illegal gambling, while also exploring future collaboration, including initiatives like shadowing and addressing key issues in areas like AML and sports betting integrity.”
