Birkirkara FC have reached an agreement to sign Ghana forward Seth Paintsil.
The 360 Sports Malta Premier leaders have agreed personal terms with the former Ħamrun Spartans forward and is now eligible to make his debut for the Stripes in this weekend’s clash against Sliema Wanderers.
For Paintsil, his move to Birkirkara marks a return to Maltese football after only six months.
The speedy forward was on the books of Ħamrun Spartans last season, but struggled for consistency in his performances.
However, Paintsil delivered when it mattered most for the Spartans when netting four goals for the Reds in the 5-0 thumping of Floriana in the penultimate day of last season that crowned his team as Malta champions.
Still, the Spartans opted not to retain the services of Paintsil at the end of the season. But since then Paintsil has failed to register with any other club.
Last month speculation was rife that Paintsil could return with his former club Ħamrun Spartans after he was seen watching the Reds’ 2-1 win over Gżira United at the Tedesco Stadium.
However, Spartans president Joseph Portelli has made it clear that he was not ready to offer a contract to the forward.
In recent days, Birkirkara approached the player and offered him a contract until the end of the season.
