Malta is building an edtech hub that deserves to be on your radar. So says Sylvie Milverton, CEO and Co-founder at Lynx Educate.
Milverton recently spent time on the island, participating in a 12-week SuperCharger Ventures EdTech accelarator.
In a LinkedIn post, she said: “Meeting new people, making real friends… Rare are the opportunities at this stage of life to have an immersive experience like that. I made some lifelong friends. It’s hard being away from home (I wasn’t away the entire time, but certainly most of it), and there are seasons where you need to be away more. So grateful for my supportive family.”
She added: “In these days of remote work, multi-tasking, errands, juggling, it was a good reminder that focus always wins. Being in-person with different members of the Lynx Educate team and with other startups freed up so many distractions. We made a ton of progress in a short time.”
“Yes, Malta is not the US, but for a European startup, it is a hidden gem. Seriously! Amazing non-dilutive financing programmes sponsored by Malta Enterprise to support startups who open a subsidiary in Malta. Access to good, English speaking talent. Some bureaucracy to tackle (we are French so anyway we are used to that!) but with 100% openness from the Malta team to find a solution quickly. Together with SuperCharger Ventures they are building an EdTech hub in Malta. We are the third cohort, so it will take a bit of time to get a critical mass – but not as long as you think.”
Milverton concluded: “At the end of the summer, I was feeling stuck. What was the right path for Lynx? How best to grow? What adjustments to make to our product? What fundraising strategy? And while the accelerator didn’t give me the answers, the focus and community gave me the space to find them. We picked up speed and got traction.”
Also taking part in the third cohort were:

2024 RTIH Innovation Awards
Lynx Educate was among the winners at the sixth edition of the RTIH Innovation Awards, hosted by our sister title Retail Technology Innovation Hub.
The workforce education platform helps companies offer learning beyond the day to day as a way to differentiate employer brand and retain talent.
In the first year of its partnership with flagship client Deliveroo, Lynx has helped over 130,000 riders and their family members access learning programmes that enable them to upskill and create opportunities for their future.
The RTIH Innovation Awards, sponsored by Vista Technology Support, Scala, CADS, 3D Cloud, Brightpearl by Sage’s Lightning 50, Business France, and Retail Technology Show 2025, celebrate global tech innovation in a fast moving omnichannel world.
The 2024 hall of fame entrants were revealed during an event which took place at RIBA’s 66 Portland Place HQ in Central London on 21st November, and consisted of a drinks reception, three course meal, and awards ceremony presided over by comedian Lucy Porter.
In his welcome speech, Scott Thompson, Founder and Editor, RTIH, said: “The event is now into its sixth year and what a journey it has been. The awards started life as an online only affair during the Covid outbreak, before launching as a small scale in real life event and growing year on year to the point where we’re now selling out this fine, historic venue.”
He added: “Congratulations to all of our finalists. Many submissions did not make it through to the final stage, and getting to this point is no mean feat. Checkout-free stores, automated supply chains, immersive experiences, on-demand delivery, next generation loyalty offerings, inclusive retail, green technology. We’ve got all the cool stuff covered this evening.”
“But just importantly we’ve got lots of great examples of companies taking innovative tech and making it usable in everyday operations – resulting in more efficiency and profitability in all areas.”
Congratulations to the 2024 winners, and a big thank you to our sponsors, judging panel, the legend that is Lucy Porter, and all those who attended last month’s gathering.
