The Malta national team will kick off their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign on home soil on March 21 as the fixtures list of Group G was decided on Friday evening.
Malta were drawn with the loser of the UEFA Nations League qualifier between Spain and the Netherlands as well as Poland, Finland and Lithuania in what promises to be another difficult campaign for the team.
The national team will open with a double-header in March when they face host Finland at the National Stadium on March 21 before heading to Central Europe and face Poland four days later.
Malta’s most important fixture of the campaign, where there will be high hopes of picking up the three points, will be played on June 7 when the national team hosts Lithuania in Ta’ Qali.
Three days later the team completes its international schedule for season 2024-25 with a trip to either Spain or the Netherlands.
On September 4, Malta will be heading to Vilnius to face Lithuania.
The national team will then play on home soil on October 9 against either Spain or the Netherlands.
Malta’s World Cup qualifying campaign will come to an end in November when they face Finland away on November 14 before hosting Poland on November 17.
