The Malta Premier League announced that the 12 teams forming part of Malta’s top-tier will be receiving the sum of €196,333 in Solidarity Payments from UEFA.
In a statement, the organisation representing clubs in Malta’s top-tier said that UEFA will be handing the sum of €2,356,000 to the Malta FA as solidarity funds for season 2024-25.
The sum being distributed by UEFA is almost double the amount Maltese clubs received last season when the sum distributed by the European governing body last year reached €1.08 million.
“The 12 clubs who are members of the Malta Premier League will be receiving the sum of €2,356,000 as solidarity funds by UEFA for season 2024-25,” the Malta Premier League said in a statement.
“This will amount to €196,333 for each club and is the highest amount that has ever been given to Maltese clubs. UEFA have introduced new regulations on how the money is administered, even on request of a number of leagues, including the Malta Premier League.
“The clubs are agreeing to donate the sum of €293,400 ((€24,450 from every Premier club) so that they are equally distributed to clubs in the Challenge League throughout the season as an act of solidarity. This amounts to 12.5 per cent of the sum that will be received by Premier clubs.”
